Trebinje

In the hinterland of the southern Adriatic, Herceg Novi and Dubrovnik, in the extreme south of Bosnia and Herzegovina, there is Trebinje, a city that was first mentioned in the 10th century. At first, it was part of Byzantium, and then it was the center of the state of Travunija, which was part of the state of Nemanjić. After Belgrade, Trebinje is perhaps the most prominent city in the history of the Serbian people. It is believed that the state idea of our people was born here for the first time. From Vojinje is the Vojisavljević dynasty, which ruled our people before Stefan Nemanja, but also the Branković dynasty, from Mladen, Branko and Vuk, which ruled more than a century after the Kosovo war. In the Middle Ages, the entire territory from the Dubrovnik gates of Ploče to the gates of the city of Kotor was called the Trebinje principality. In Trebinje, we will be greeted by a mild Mediterranean climate, ancient and modern architecture and traces of turbulent history. A city of poetry, wine and love, which leaves no one indifferent, and which you will surely fall in love with. Walking through the Old Town, through narrow, cobbled streets, we will reach the Trebinje promenade, and the famous plane trees. In the Austro-Hungarian era, 16 plane trees were planted, which are today the greatest symbol and trademark of Trebinje. In summer, they create shade with their canopy, and in the summer garden that is below them, it is very difficult to find a free place to sit. More and more tourists visit Trebinje every year. The people of Trebinje are good hosts, they have excellent wines, and they prepare very tasty specialties. The city, which was sung by many poets, painted by painters, described by writers and revived by filmmakers, remains engraved deep in the hearts and memories of each of its visitors, and it is again awaited and invited with open arms.
